Cosplay Contest Rules

All contestants must  be registered attendees of Phenoamcon and possess a Phenoamcon Convention Badge.

This is a PG-13 event – please keep this in mind when planning. No cursing will be permitted, and any innuendo must have an equally obvious

non-suggestive interpretation.  If you are unsure whether something is allowed or not, please email info@phenomacon.net

Surprise the audience, but never surprise the staff/crew — Absolutely NO jumping on or off stage.  No acrobatics/flips/cartwheels will be allowed.  Any ‘surprise elements’ must be run by the cosplay coordinator for approval. Violating this may result in disqualification from the competition. When in doubt, ask.

We will have a pre-judging time. This will be after registration closes on Sunday July 12th. This is so we can take the time to talk to you and ask you questions about your costumes and all the hard work you put into it.

Costumes can be made or purchased. We know everyone doesn’t have the ability or time to make one and piecing together a costume can be just as hard some times. Please see the main categories for details.

Please bring reference material for your character. The judges have been around, but they haven’t seen everything. Having a physical image of the original character would help us immensely.

We will be judging your costume on workmanship and presentation. Staying in character is not necessary but it is encouraged.

All judges’ decisions are final. We have experience with creating, competing, and judging competitions. We will use all our power to judge everyone fairly.
